How to nominate

Nominations open 17 September and close 12pm, 22 September 2020.

To nominate:

  1. Visit the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) website to check the nomination requirements.
  2. Complete the nomination form available from the VEC website – this can be pre-filled online using VEC’s Candidate Helper.
  3. Pay the prescribed nomination fee of $250.
  4. Make sure you complete the mandatory candidate training, prior to nominating. The training takes about one hour to complete.
  5. Make an appointment with the VEC election office to attend, in person to lodge your candidate statement and photo. This must be done in person by 12pm, 22 September 2020.

Donation return form: a must!

The VEC’s candidate information pack will also include a donation return form, which must be completed and submitted to the CEO of the council for which you are nominating, within 40 days of election day. All candidates must submit a donation return form, even if they have not been elected.

    Ballot packs will begin to be mailed out by the VEC for postal votes

    Votes must be submitted via post, or in-person at an electoral office
